Family Croquet and Barbecue

There was record turn out of 55 for this year's event on a really warm and sunny day. Our thanks go to Richard and Margaret Goddin who once again hosted the event - their swimming pool was very popular with the children.

Adults played 'golf' croquet in groups of four, a simple and possibly more friendly version of the game which was never the less eagerly contested by all concerned.
Each game had a possible 7 points from the six hoops and the pin - Andrew O'Brien was heard to advise that the way to succeed was to be careful which group you played with – possibly a form of 'natural' selection! In the end he did not benefit from his own his advice – although John Price did.

The junior section was won by Harriet Shepherd again, who tied on score but was the winner when taking age into account – perpetual trophies were presented by Andrew O'Brien.
