Peter Lawrence visited us in February, when he talked about Kensington Gardens and Belgravia. A full meeting room was fascinated to hear about the luxury mansions near Kensington Palace and see pictures of the outsides of these mansions and even some of their luxurious insides. After a break for wine and nibbles, we heard about the speculative building of Belgravia, next to the new Buckingham Palace, and how it was quickly occupied by Dukes, Earls, and the better gentry, as well as the necessary services, such as the local abattoir. We even heard that traditional terraced workman's cottages in the area, were now available as holiday rents at £2,000 per week!
