This year's event was nearly a Winter Gardens, with a light overnight snowfall, but fortunately it had melted by the time the event started. The eight gardens that were open ran from the middle of the High Street towards the station, including one just over the railway bridge, together with one each in Whitecroft Road and Chiswick End. With the doubtful weather to start the day, it was pleasing that the income was 75% of last year's warm and sunny event.
Teas were sold at the church and the Art Group exhibited a selection of their work for sale, donating 25% of the proceeds to the Friends of Holy Trinity, for the preservation of the fabric of the church.
The History Group also provided a rolling slide-show of Meldreth pictures, together with displays on various aspects of the village's history. Of particular interest was one entitled 'Exploring the Village Church', which will now be permanently displayed next to the Friends' notice board.
As usual, there was also a chance to try bell-ringing and to play the barrel organ.
Our thanks go to all the garden owners, the Art and History groups and all the helpers who made the day a success.
