The Friends held their biennial croquet party on the 27th July, with the kind co-operation of Margaret and Richard Goddin, who generously allowed the use of their garden once more. Over 30 adults and children enjoyed the very pleasant weather and surrounding to try their skills at croquet. The children (and some of the more adventurous adults) also made great use of the pool. Throughout the proceedings beef-burgers and hot dogs were supplied regularly; thanks to Richard Remnant and Miles Leech for assisting Bob Long in the cooking. The eventual winner of the Men's croquet prize was Peter Chilvers, while Pauline Penfold carried off the Ladies' prize. A thoroughly enjoyable day was had by all and the £77 pounds of funds raised makes a welcome addition to the Friends' bank balance.
