Ian McCaig, CEO of lastminute.com, with support from Peter Walter, a website designer, gave us an illuminating presentation on the use and power of the internet. The evening started with an insight into the business model behind lastminute.com and covered general subjects (like Google and Wikipedia), travel and entertainment (music, youtube and BBC iPlayer), life style and finance.
The presentation was online and was only made possible with a 100m LAN cable running from Ian Mitchell's broadband connection in the house next to the church – also we were grateful to Steve Hawkins for providing lighting so the presenter could be seen without affecting the quality of the projected picture.
