Car Show

Sunday 13th September 2009

On a cool but dry day, the fifth Car Show made a record profit. It was possible through the generosity of enthusiast car owners to put on what was described by a visitor as one of the best selection of cars yet with 80% of the exhibits appearing for the first time. The oldest car present was a 7 HP 1902 Panhard-Levassor and others included two beautiful 1934 Lagondas and an Austin A35 bought by the current owner from Meldreth Motors in 1981 and previously owned by the Ward family since new in 1957.

The organiser's interest in sporting cars was strongly represented by a rare 1952 Ferrari 212, kindly loaned by Greenwood Motorsport of Hare Street and an original and priceless 1953 C Type Jaguar, one of only 53 made - shown in the picture above.

To add to the afternoon the Memphis Jazz Band plus guests played and John Gipson demonstrated the Barrel Organ, with a number of visitors having a go at turning the handle.
