Car Show

Sunday 11th September 2011

Our seventh event was a great success and the best ever, despite a gloomy forecast a few days beforehand. The two showers that occurred did not dampen spirits and certainly enhanced the sale of teas. We endeavoured to widen publicity this year and it seemed to have helped, as the churchyard was busy with visitors all afternoon.

The willingness of owners to bring along their wonderful exhibits makes the show possible and is greatly appreciated. The cars included a 1915 Vauxhall 'D' type (below, centre), once owned by the royal family and now stabled by Greenwood Motorsport for a New York lawyer. There was also a 1975 Magnum Firenza built and developed by the late Bill Blydenstein at his Shepreth works for Vauxhall. It was their most successful competition car ever.

The ladies who served the teas would like to thank the many providers of delicious cakes and those who helped in the kitchen. They would also like to thank all of their customers; the ladies were busy all afternoon and it all made a useful contribution to the church fabric fund.
