Car Show

Sunday 14th September 2014

The 10th annual Car Show was a success and well supported by both exhibitors and visitors.
Of the 60 or so exhibits almost half were new to the show while the rest were popular exhibits from the previous 9 years with many interesting stories. A 1931 Austin 7 bought from a scrap yard in Leeds in 1969 had been restored and a few years ago taken on a tour with the Austin 7 Club in France when he it covered 2000 miles in 2 weeks.
The event has always had a sporting theme and there was a Lotus hill climb special with a transparent body, several MGs, a restored 1959 Austin Healey 3000 and a rare pale blue 1949 Austin Atlantic which sadly was unsuccessful in the American market.
To complement all the cars and motorbikes an exhibition was arranged in the church by the Royston Model Aeroplane Club showing 34 rather large models including one with a functioning miniature gas turbine engine.
