The 10th annual Car Show was a success and well supported by both exhibitors
and visitors. |
Of the 60 or so exhibits almost half were new to the show while the rest
were popular exhibits from the previous 9 years with many interesting stories.
A 1931 Austin 7 bought from a scrap yard in Leeds in 1969 had been restored
and a few years ago taken on a tour with the Austin 7 Club in France when
he it covered 2000 miles in 2 weeks. |

The event has always had a sporting theme and there was a Lotus hill climb
special with a transparent body, several MGs, a restored 1959 Austin Healey
3000 and a rare pale blue 1949 Austin Atlantic which sadly was unsuccessful
in the American market. |
|
To complement all the cars and motorbikes an exhibition was arranged in the
church by the Royston Model Aeroplane Club showing 34 rather large models including
one with a functioning miniature gas turbine engine.
