Car Show

Sunday 22nd September 2019

This year's event got off to a flying start with a triple flypast from a Lancaster, on its way from an air display at Duxford to its base at Coningsby. The Lancaster, with the memorable sound of its four Rols Royce Merlin engines, was also seen and heard elsewhere in the village as it banked round between circuits. At the end of its final circuit, about 250 feet above the ground, those attending the show broke out into spontaneous applause.

After this nostalgic start, the weather intervened. There was a torrential downpour and the church and tea room filled with people, some of whom tried the virtual bell ringing set-up. During the rain, the Memphis Jazz Band continued playing under their large gazebo.

When the rain stopped, the car, motorbike and pedal bike owners resumed their conversations with each other and with the visitors. Due to the bad weather, inevitably attendance was down, but a good time was nevertheless had by all.
